Friday, September 29

Guided visit to the prestigious Museo Nacional de Antropologia, designed by architect, Pedro Ramirez Vazquez. The archaeological and ethnographic treasures of among others, the Olmec, Teotihuacan, Toltec, Mexica, and May prehispanic cultures are found here. Highlights of the visit are the sculpture of Tláloc, god of water and the Aztec calendar. One can also enjoy the plastic works of: Raúl Tamayo.

The Museum’s director will chat with the visitors, after which there will be a cocktail and a show.

Saturday, September 30

Walk to “El Bazar del Sabado” and San Jacinto plaza, in the historic San Angel neighborhood in which artists and intellectuals meets. Visitors will step right into a setting of beautiful plazuelas and rustic properties from the XVII century. This day, lunch will be served in Fonda San Angel, of typical Mexican cuisine.

In the afternoon our traditional welcome cocktail will be held in the Alcazar del Castillo de Chapultepec.

 


Conceived as an imperial palace, the fortress was originally designed in the period of Maximilian of Hapsburg. Under the principle of freedom of expression, the Declaration of Chapultepec, so important to the IAPA was signed here.

Sunday, October 1

Visit to The Basilica of Guadalupe, an awe inspiring temple dedicated to the virgin adored by the majority of Mexicans. It’s a temple founded in 1976, which sets aside the little chapel where the miracle took place. Welcome 10,000 people and one can observe San Juan Diego “ayate” in which the image of the Virgin of Guadalupe was captured.

On the same day a tour to the pyramids of Teotihuacan, archaeological area located 45 minutes from Mexico City will take place.

 



Highlights the pyramids of the Sun and of the Moon representing ancient gods. In the evening, the first dinner of the Assembly will be offered in the Palacio de Mineria, a masterpiece of American neoclassicism.

Monday, October 2

One-day trip to Cuernavaca, “the City of Eternal Spring,” just 45 minutes from Mexico City. We will visit the Hernán Cortes Palace, the Cathedral and other points of interest. Lunch will be at one of the area’s best restaurants.

Return to the hotel will be at dusk. Dinner that evening will be in the Camino Real Hotel’s Terraza Virreyes Room, with magnificent views of the Chapultepec Park and Castle, in a Bohemian-style evening featuring performances by two greats of romantic music, Armando Manzanero and Francisco Céspedes.

Tuesday, October 3

The Mexico City Tour Bus will be at the hotel door to invite you to enjoy a special tour of the city. Lunch will be at La Hacienda de los Morales ranch, where a Mexican fair with typical food and beverages will be held. Attendees will be offered Mexican hors d’oeuvres, mariachi music, tequila and more. In the evening the Closing Banquet will be held at the Palace of Fine Arts.
