ARGENTINA I

WHEREAS
all small and medium-size businesses in Argentina must pay a 10.5% Value Added Tax

WHEREAS
inexplicably, small and medium-size newspapers are excluded from this regime and therefore pay 21%

WHEREAS
this is discrimination that seriously affects small and medium-size newspapers

WHEREAS
Principle 6 of the Declaration of Chapultepec states: “The media and journalists should neither be discriminated against nor favored because of what they write or say”

THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE IAPA RESOLVES
to ask the president of Argentina to adopt all measures necessary to end tax discrimination against small and medium-size newspapers.
